Geez People

Geez People are ancient people who used to leave in north Ethiopia and Eritrea who speak Geez language. They are the founder of Axumite empire and Daamat kingdom. Geez people moved southwards and settled up to south Shewa and their language being heavily influenced by their neighbouring people who speak Cushitic languages like Agaw and Beja lead to the development of Tigrinya, Amarinya, Tigre, Guraginya and Hararinya languages. Many became Christians while some became Muslims and others were assimilated by expanding Cushitic peoples.
