Garlic Brown (also known by the Afrikaans translation, Knoffel Bruin) is a South African hip hop artist who first rose to prominence in the late 1990s as Judah of Brasse Vannie Kaap. A native of the Cape Flats, Garlic Brown has been a critical exponent of the burgeoning Afrikaans rap scene; Jack Parow cites a collaboration entitled "Hard Headed Hobos" as instrumental in his adoption of the language in his music. A frequent collaborator with Isaac Mutant and Scallywag, the trio featured on Die Antwoord's 2009 debut ' on the song "Wie Maak Die Jol Vol". He is currently working with the League Of Shadows, a collective of rappers and producers from the Cape Town area.
