G DATA Antivirus is a German antivirus program. It currently uses the Kaspersky and antivirus engines. Older versions used the BitDefender and Kaspersky engine, while the newest release candidate uses the BitDefender and Avast engines. This dual-engine approach provides a very good detection rate, as shown by Av-Comparative Tests. Features G-DATA antivirus technology is available in 3 programs: Antivirus: includes only antivirus features Internet Security: Antivirus features, personal firewall and Anti-Spam. Total Care: Internet Security features with Backup and Performance tuning functions. Criticism The main criticism has been regarding performance. Usually G-DATA Antivirus uses more than 200 megabytes of memory. Other criticisms include false positives. |
