Lagerfeld was quoted as saying "my passion had run...regarding the form the show's had taken. I take pride in having brought this little dilletant some media attention... he resents me for it" Villain set up an elaborate video display reliant on the reflection of supported A30 filters. He then dismantled the set up a day before the show was to take place citing a "warm look" from Lagerfeld . This led to his name getting full billing on the shows credits next to Lagerfeld as creative director with no apparent contribution. A small media scandal ensued when fashion journalist Hadley Freeman credited Villain's absent presence for the show's success highlighting the little research that she had done. When asked about the incident by Amy Shields of Drapers Hilfiger commented satirically that his "trainwreck of a show could have been avoided, had I more Villain, like Lagerfeld, and less Hilfiger".Villain made no comment on the incident, in line with his policy of having no links with the media.
