FRANCIS KENDER, 1859-1902
Born in 1859 Francis Kender was a popular philosopher amoung his peers. In the late 18th century Francis was centre of a movement known as Romanticism which sought to combine the formal rationality of the past, with a greater and more immediate emotional and organic sense of the world.
Kender grew up in Cornwall, England around the Cubert area and later returned there to marry his wife Katherine. Francis and Kender enjoyed five children together, Rupert, Marigold, Francis Jr, Cedric and Hyacinth.
Kender had a keen interest in rainforests and enjoyed visiting tropical places, however his life abbruptly came to an end in 1902 due to a serious monkey bite from the Southern American regions.
