Francis de Souza was a Roman Catholic priest, school principal, and rector of a seminary and a cathedral in Karachi, Pakistan. Early life He was born in Karachi on 6 January 1924. His parents were Celeriano de Souza and Theodolinda de Lima. From 1929 to 1938 he was a student at St Patrick's High School, Karachi. Career He was only the second priest of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Karachi to complete 60 years of service. He received his religious training at the Papal Seminary, Kandy, Sri Lanka and was ordained a priest on 24 August 1948. He served as Principal of St. Lawrence's Boys School from 1951-54. He studied at Oxford from 1954-58 and received an MA degree. He was rector of St. Pius X Minor Seminary Quetta from 1958-1965. Father Francis de Souza had also been rector of Saint Patrick's Cathedral, Karachi from 1966-75. From 1975 to 1996 he was Parish Priest of Christ the King Parish, Karachi. In 1993 he was also Vicar General and dean of the College of Consultors of the Archdiocese. Death and funeral De Souza died in Holy Family Hospital, Karachi on 12 February 2014 after a prolonged illness. His funeral service was celebrated by Archbishop Joseph Coutts, Emeritus Archbishop Evarist Pinto and Bishop Max John Rodrigues of Hyderabad. <ref name=cv />
