Four boxes of democracy

The four boxes of democracy is a meme introduced by Ed Howdershelt that proposes that democracy, liberty and human rights are defended with the soap box, the ballot box, the jury box and the ammo box. The expression is "There are four boxes to be used in the defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury and ammo. Please use in that order"
Howdershelt says he introduced the concept in February 1971 at a student protest rally at the University of Texas, Arlington, USA.
The meme has been used as the name of various websites that espouse these values.
The "United States Militia", a pro-gun lobby, promotes the concept.
The meme has been quoted on various pro-gun websites and is the title of a poem.
