FlyArmenia

History
flyArmenia was founded in early 2008 as a western, airline alternative to the dominant Armavia Airlines. With approved government approvals, the company plans on launching direct routes from Yerevan to Los Angeles and New York in July. The company plans on received its first order for an Airbus 340-500 on June 2007 and four Embraer 195 planes on March 2008. The company has already put extra orders of three other Airbus 340-500s, nine Embraer 195s, and three Airbus 320s. Contrary to standard designs, these specially designed flyArmenia planes are particularly spacious and luxurious, in the company's attempt to establish itself as a world class airline. Although the airline is privately own, TUI AG has expressed interest in purchasing stock in the company's assets, if the company decides to go on the market. The airline, in general, however, is expected to become the largest airline within Armenia and the region in general.
