Flupples

Created by Alexis Sawford, as a successful street show in the 1990's in Adelaide and later Brisbane.the Flupples featured in a self funded Dvd and video release which featured 3 separate editions.
Funded originally by Caloundra city council RADF grant, the subsequent editions and ad ons were funded by independent means.
IN THE MEDIA
During late 1990's the act was featured on the front page of the sunshine coast "Weekender"(www.weekender.com.au) and three times in the "Sunshine coast Weekly" (1998 April 11 1998 sept23 and sept 13 2006) newspapers.
The street show in it's early form was captured on national television on SBS in 1998 on "Front up" with an interview by Andrew L. Urban of the then troubled artist, and has featured in promotional shorts on Win news, channel seven for the 1998 valley fiesta and the local Briz 31 Featuring as a major hit on several in street festivals including the Valley Fiesta in the late 1990's in Brisbane, and a still regular at many rural and country events including Childers Multicultural festival, the one man puppet show utilizes a specialized rig which enables them to be worked by the legs of the operator. Based in south east Queensland and a fixture at the Eumundi markets the Flupples have evolved into a comedic show with two main characters being dogs and the third a cheeta. Parody songs from a dog's perspective feature in the content, and the puppets articulate expressions, notably flashing teeth, shedding tears and sometimes dropping limbs.
Featured on you tube as mongrel muppets, the show is the only of its kind in the world.
