Five-Domain Model of Self-Regulation

The Five-Domain Model of Self-Regulation looks at self-regulation through a critical exploration of five domains:
# The Biological Domain
# The Emotional Domain
# The Cognitive Domain
# The Social Domain
# The Prosocial Domain
We all have complex links among each domain, and understanding these complex links is key to optimal self-regulation.
The biological domain refers to the energy of the nervous system. Th emotional domain refers to the realm of feelings and moods, both positive and negative. The cognitive domain refers to mental processes including memory, attention, and problem-solving. The social domain refers to understanding, assessing, and acting on social cues. The prosocial domain, traditionally seen as positive and helpful social behaviours, is bound with the other areas of the five-domain model.
