On Wednesday, 25 March 1976 a horrible house fire broke out at 30 Beaumont Road, Smithfield Plains, a small suburb of northern Adelaide, South Australia. An elderly man and his teenage nephew were burnt alive inside their house while they were sleeping, when a fire erupted on Wednesday night.
The fire broke out in the middle of the night and the residents didn’t notice it until the flames had engulfed the whole house.
Two fire fighters came to the site and were able to put the fire out after an hour. The bodies were taken to the Modbury Hospital.
The victims were 60-year-old male, and 16-year-old boy. Both were from Smithfield, Adelaide. Police belive the fire was deliberately lit and never found the person or persons responsible. It was belived 10 years later the people that rebiult the house saw a young male in a bedroom every second night he looked badly burt.
