Underground (1995)
The movie starts when the first German bombs are dropped on Belgrade in 1941 during the Second World War. Two friends, Blacky and Marko, decided to help out each others to survive from the Nazi invaders by one stays underground shelter and the other stays aboveground. Marko is a member of the Communist Party and he is smarter than Blacky, so they decide Blacky to stay underground labor camp, Marko’s grandfather’s cellar, with other refuges and produce weapons, while Marko uses his brain and sells those illegal arms in aboveground. Two friends’ cooperation worked out very well until the peace came back in 1944. Even after the end of the war, Marko tricked Blacky and his fellow refuges to stay underground by telling them that the war still goes on. After make a great fortune out of this business enterprise, selling illegal weapons, Marko couldn’t give up this great source of wealth. While Marko enriched himself as a merchant of death, his friend Blacky kept work and hide underground. 50 years later, out of suspicion, Blacky came out of his underground shelter, but he realized his friend Marko was right. The war still goes on! This time, it was even worse: ugly bloodshed of Yugoslav Civil War.
