Felice News is a Canadian website reporting purely positive news, founded in 2008 by Max Jones. Felice News is currently the world's most popular all-positive news outlet, surpassing websites such as HappyNews.com. The website has reporters on all continents, including Antarctica. All correspondents are volunteers and are aged 12-25 in an effort to increase youth knowledge of world affairs and ensure they do not become involved in crime or drugs, as many of today's youth do. History The objective of Felice when it was first created was to enable people to have an alternative to the traditional press' negative news. Felice staff said: Founding The founder of Felice News, Max Jones was an avid watcher of television news shows. In late 2007, he was a television news broadcast and suddently realized most all of the news reported was overwhelmingly negative. Then 10 years old, Jones decided to build a positive news website. It began as Weekend News Today but later changed it's name to Felice News. Jones taught himself how to build a website with online website editor, and started www.WNTLive.com (WNT for Weekend News Today) on January 1, 2008. Although, shows did not commence until a month later. First Newscast Max Jones and his elementary school friend, Kendall Gray hosted Felice's first broadcast, introducing themselves and announcing the starting of a book club, which is still active today. The first book introduced in the book club was Trailblazer: An Intimate Biography of Sarah Palin. Jones built an amateur studio in is closet for the live broadcasts. The production later moved to a more advanced studio with TriCaster technology. Kendall Gray only appeared in the first three newscasts. It is not known why Gray did not appear in future broadcasts. As of December 8, 2010, the said section is still being updated with new articles and interviews with Suu Kyi. Name Felice translates to 'Happy' in Italian. It is not currently known why the board members chose this name other than the pertinent meaning. Name Change Felice News was started as Weekend News Today, as all broadcasts were on the weekends. In late 2009, the board members realized that the name that they currently held did not pertain to the work that was being done. The name was changed to Felice News on November 21, 2009. Book Club Felice's book club promotes different books each month and includes author interview and discussion questions on the book club's website. The book club is currently hosted by anchor Lillian Wu, who also chooses the books. Although Felice reports only positive news, the books read in the book club are not always positive. Wu states them as being more Eye-Opening than positive. Felice claims to have close to 10,000 active members of their book club.
