Fangry is a fictional character from the Transformers universes. He is a Decepticon Headmaster tracker who turns into a winged wolf-monster. He shouldn't be confused with Wilder, looks identical, but is a separate character. Transformers: Generation 1 Fangry's name says it all about his personality. He is generally a barely contained kernel of rage at the best of times (exceeded in that regard only by the Firecon Flamefeather). He despises authority in all forms and is deeply anti-social, meaning the only Transformers who fear him more than the Autobots he faces are his own Decepticon comrades, who have trouble even controlling him. They tend to suggest thing rather than flatly order him around in order to avoid the berserker rages that follow. Because of this, Fangry has a stubbornly headstrong streak, as he'll do things his own way without any regard to such things as strategy and tactics. Unfortunately this means that the other Decepticons are likely to abandon him on the battlefield if he wrecks their plans. Fangry is binary bonded to Brisko, a former Nebulan cartographer with a photographic memory and a desire to look out for number one. This usually clashes with Fangry's usually battle plan of tearing into the enemy as soon as possible, and often leads to a deep mental conflict within the Decepticon. He transforms into a winged humanoid wolf creature. Marvel Comics Note: Events specific to the Marvel U.K. Transformers comic are in italics. Fangry and the other Decepticon second wave Headmasters were presumably with the Scorponok's Decepticons through The Transformers: Headmasters series, but were not depicted. He seemingly gained a Headmaster partner on Nebulos. His first appearance was in issue #46, called "Ca$h and Car-Nage!". Fangry originally appeared as part of Scorponok's forces on Earth. He was present for many of the battles against the Autobots, and was later transported to Cybertron to battle the coming of Unicron. After his defeat the Autobots and Decepticons settled into an uneasy peace. Fangry was one of the most vocal critics - until confronted by Grimlock. The Dinobot leader's Nucleon enhanced frame allowed him to easily thrash Fangry, until Prowl and Bludgeon intervened. Fangry appeared in issue #77 "Exodus!" where he was among the Decepticons who backed Bludgeon's plan to conquer an inhabited world for the Decepticons once they abandoned Cybertron, rather than go with the Autobot plan to start from nothing on an uninhabited world. Fangry appeared in issue #79, "The Last Autobot!" He was among the Decepticon forces under the command of Bludgeon who slaughtered the natives of the planet Klo. The Decepticons betrayed their Autobot allies, and lured them into a trap on the planet Klo, where they were easily wiped out. Fangry led a search party hunting for survivors, seemingly missing Grimlock's group - until they doubled back, with Fangry gloating that he had sensed their location all along. His boasting was soon ended by Grimlock, who smashed through his chest with one punch. Fangry was presumably repaired, and appeared on several occasions in the Transformers: Generation 2 comic as one of Bludgeon's henchmen on the Warworld. Fangry made an appearance in the Decepticon forces under the command of Megatron in issue #7 of the Marvel Generation 2 comic series, in a story called "New Dawn." Megatron lead his Decepticons against Jhiaxus' second generation Cybertronians near the moon of Tykos. The Decepticons were defeated and Megatron left injured, presumed dead, but swearing revenge. He was seen again as part of the Autobot/Decepticon alliance that routed the second Generation Decepticons on Ethos. It is unknown if he survived the battle against the Swarm. The second wave of Decepticon Headmasters would appear in the U.K. Marvel comic issue #234, "Prime's Rib!" This story is set in the near future, 1995, where Optimus Prime, Jazz and Hot Rod introduce the latest Autobot, Arcee, to the human feminists. She was met with displeasure by the humans, being called a token female and disliked for her pink color. They were then attacked by Shockwave, Fangry, Horri-Bull and Squeezeplay, who thought the Autobot would be unvieling a new weapon. The Autobots fought off the Decepticons, who escaped, but nothing seemed to please the human feminists. Animated series Although the U.S. animated series was canceled before Fangry was released, he did appear in animated form in Transformers commercials. Books Fangry appeared in Decepticons Underground, a children's book with optional companion audio cassette. It was written by John Grant and illustrated by Glenn Stewart. Although not mentioned by name Fangry was illustrated to be among the Decepticons on Nebulos. Toys *Generation 1 Fangry with Brisko (1988) :One of the second wave of Decepticon Headmasters.
