Family Court, Rayagada

Family Court, Rayagada is a judicial infrastructure for family dispute resolution established on 19th January 2019 in the district headquarters, at Rayagada. It is the only judicial institution vested power with dealing all the cases relating to family disputes within the Rayagada Sub-division.
History
Under Section 3 of the Family Courts' Act, 1984 enacted by Government of India and according to the Law Department notification No. 5275L, dated 04.06.2016 of Government of Odisha, permission was granted for establishment of this institution. After acquisition of the necessary infrastructure it was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Justice Shri Krushna Ram Mahapatro, Justice, Hon’ble Orissa High Court, Cuttack on 19 January 2019. Smt. Saubhagini Mallick happens to be the first judge of this institution.
Jurisdiction
In spite of the fact that this is the only Family Court of Rayagada District, its jurisdiction is limited to revenue sub division of Rayagada only. Accordingly, all the family disputes pending under the courts of Rayagada Sadar and Kashipur and all new family disputes shall come under the jurisdiction of this court.
Speciality
*The duty of this court is to settle all the cases amicably, in the 1st instance, by counseling/conciliation.
*Appointing advocates for either party is not mandatory in family court.
*No court fee is required for filing a case in the Family Court.
