Extensible Mobile Application Server (xMAS) Innovative Mobilization of Web-Based Applications using Virtual Database Technology Extensible Mobile Application Server (xMAS) is an extensible platform for developing wireless application that require complete handling of the data flow of an application, i.e., from data acquisition to data delivery to the end-user on a variety of mobile platforms including mobile phones and PDA devices. xMAS is unique in that it is not a transcoding solution. xMAS separates data acquisition from data delivery using its innovative Virtual Database Technology. xMAS’s key feature is in providing the automated infrastructure for managing: • Multiple, distributed data sources accessed within an application, • Various wireless protocols and/or carriers, and • Any types of wireless devices. Hence, it allows developers to focus on designing the business logic of their applications and alleviates them from dealing with complex data transformation and management issues inherent in wireless applications. xMAS provides functional tools for developing this next generation of mobile applications. Ultimately, developers can write applications once and deliver them across multiple devices.
