Exposure in animal skin was a method of torturous execution in remote times; it involved sewing up the victim inside the skin of a dead animal, typically with a fair amount of its putrescent flesh still attached. The oddly clothed victim was taken to the top of a hill and bound in place, typically with only his face exposed. The scent quickly attracted vultures, which tore through the skin of their peculiar prize and helped themselves to generous morsels of flesh and internal organs. Death was quite slow and particularly horrible.
