The Everitt Road saga is a spat among a number of residents at Everitt Road in Singapore which started in 2001. It involves a number of parties, namely the Chan family and seven other families. They began recording the actions of one another, which often led to quarrels. There were uncivil actions like shaking of buttocks and showing off of jewelery. Mr Chan, an elder, used his camcorder to record the actions of the other neighbours, which went on for a long time. The neighbours decided to do the same thing by taping the actions of the Chan family, both parties were interviewed by the press.
The dispute became a big issue, and the Singapore media often reported on the spat in the press. It became nationwide news later that year, with cars from both Singapore and neighbouring Malaysia going to the neighbourhood to watch the dispute. When the Gans had a New Year's Eve party, all the families in the neighbourhood were there except the Chans. Despite filing numerous reports to the police, the report was however unsuccessful. The neighbours of the Chans later filed a lawsuit against them in 2002, which went on for a number of years for being a public nuisance. Mr Chan was fined for harassing his neighbours, a number of times. The case is still pending as of 1 March 2006.
