European Laser Institute

The European Laser Institute was founded in 2003 through an EU-funded initiative. The ELI mission is to strengthen and further enhance Europe’s position in the field of laser technology. In addition, ELI aims to raise public awareness of the significance and prospects of the European laser technology industry.

ELI is a network composed of the European leading research organizations and medium-sized companies. It builds a bridge between industry and research facilities and pushes international cooperation especially in the field of EU research. By working in close collaboration with existing national and international organizations, the ELI network of industrial and academic research institutions helps to influence R&D policy on a national and European level (e.g. Photonic21 Platform). ELI also creates adequate platforms by organizing conferences, workshops, summerschools etc. This is also done in cooperation with the respective representations like EPIC, AILU, or WLT. A perennial strong cooperation with the Laser Institute of America (LIA) in the organization of international conferences (ICALEO, PICALO,ALAW) and the Journal of Laser Applications (JLA) has been established.
