Etihad Liberal Press

Etihad Liberal Press is an English-language news-portal based in Beirut, Lebanon. Established in 2015 as the Lebanon affiliate of the Liberal International News network, it provides opinion pieces on political and economic issues in the Middle East, focussing primarily on Lebanon, Syria, Israel, Turkey and the Palestinian Territories.
Generally reporting from a classical liberal perspective it opposes the involvement of foreign powers such as Iran or Saudi-Arabia in Lebanese domestic politics and Hezbollah involvemenent in the Syrian civil war. Although not opposing Hezbollah per se, Etihad Liberal News advocates transforming its military wing from an independent militia into special forces of the Lebanese army, under the supervision of the Minister of Defense and the President.
The newsportal is a fierce critic of Russian involvement in Syria and generally seen as pro-Western, although it has not officially endorsed a party in the Syrian civil war. It has been critical of the Lebanese government in regard to the 2016 grabage crisis and the European Union's refugee policy. It has also accused the AKP-led Turkish government on cracking down on media freedom.
