Ester Goldberg

Ester Goldberg (sometimes spelled "Esther") is a fictional character created and portrayed by actor/comedian/producer Michael Airington. As a fictional character she is a widowed star of radio, cabaret and nightclubs as well as a former make-up artist, gossip columnist and music maven.
The Ester Goldberg character originated in Nashville morning radio on STAR 106 as part of the zany morning show crew. After the station was bought by CLEAR CHANNEL, the crew was disbanded and Airington took the character to Washington, DC, where she hosted local shows called The Feud, Scream, Lose or Draw and the Las Vegas styled The Big Show. Goldberg was honored December 2, 2003 when the city declared "Ester Goldberg Day" for helping to raise almost a quarter of a million dollars for different charities. She/he came into the Federal Courts when a rival nightclub and drag persona, Lena Lett, began hosting a game show similar to The Feud, which was at that time called "The Feygele Feud". A lawsuit was eventually brought to the federal courts, where Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson (who oversaw the break up of Microsoft) was assigned the case. The case was settled with Airington winning and "JR's Bar and Grill" (where Goldberg was the headliner) purchasing the Feygele Feud name. Airington then called his show "The Feud". JR's Feygele Feud was canceled shortly thereafter due to poor attendance.
Ester Goldberg had an initial six week run of her "Big Show" in Washington DC. The show was extended and played the WASHINGTON PLAZA. A wildly popular success in the nation's capital, her fast-moving and hilarious Big Swanky After Dinner Show, played to packed houses and thrilled audiences with a captivating mix of diverse musical numbers and side-splitting comedy.
