Erling Hauge

Erling Hauge (May 9, 1941 - September 15, 2012) was a Norwegian entomologist specializing in spiders. Hauge was considered a leading specialist in spiders in Norway.
He was employed at the Zoological Museum in Bergen in 1967 and remained there until he retired. In 1975 he became a teaching assistant and in 1981 an associate professor. Hauge contributed significantly to the museum's collection. He also reviewed older material on spiders in the collections at the Zoological Museum in Bergen, contributing significantly to the knowledge of spiders in Norway. He also studied spiders in the North Atlantic islands, the Faroe Islands, and Iceland, and in the northern part of the United Kingdom.
Hauge was involved with the protection of endangered species. Erling Hauge died in September 2012 after a long illness.
