Erich Kuhnke (born March 1969) is an American-German former soccer player and administrator involved in both traditional and beach soccer. He played college soccer at Coastal Carolina University and later competed with the Miami Freedom and Miami Breakers. Kuhnke also served as president and player for Florida Beach Soccer FC during its competitive run in the early 2010s. Early life Erich Kuhnke was born in Miami, Florida, and raised in Germany, where he played for Eintracht Frankfurt II before returning to the United States. Collegiate career From 1987 to 1991, Kuhnke played for Coastal Carolina University Men's Soccer Team in the NCAA Division I in the Big South Conference (now the Sun Belt Conference), he appeared in 66 matches (49 starts), scoring 10 goals and recording 9 assists for 31 points, with 51 shots taken. Traditional soccer career In 1992, he was listed on the Miami Freedom roster in the American Professional Soccer League (APSL). In 1998, Kuhnke played eight matches for the Miami Breakers in the USL Second Division, in a season where the team finished 17-1. Beach soccer Erich Kuhnke was the president and a player of Florida Beach Soccer FC, a professional beach soccer team based in South Florida active from 2010 to 2013. He contributed to the club’s success in the North American Sand Soccer Championships (NASSC) U.S. Open, with third place in 2010, championships back-to-back in 2011 and 2012, and a runners-up finish in 2013. Kuhnke helped secure a five-year sponsorship deal with Admiral Sportswear. He oversaw the club’s participation in internationally recognized tournaments such as the BagoSports Beach Football Invitational in Trinidad and Tobago where they were runners up in 2010 and victorious in 2011 remaining undefetated in the tournament. The team was also back-to-back championships at the Clearwater Beach Tournament in 2010 and 2011, part of the United Soccer Leagues’ Major Beach Soccer Tournament series. In addition to administrative duties, he contributed to youth development initiatives under the club’s umbrella. Kuhnke later co-founded Miami United FC and served as the President. Over-40 Masters Team In 2013, Erich Kuhnke played for the Lauderhill Lions Soccer Club's Over-40 Masters Team in the Caribbean Americas Soccer Association (CASA) league. The Lions won the CASA final 1-0 against Limers FC at Lauderhill Sports Park, Lauderhill, Florida. Kuhnke scored the only goal late in the first half from a rebound after Wayne Neunie's shot hit the post, helping secure the victory for the team coached by Keith Davis. Personal life Kuhnke is the father of Fredo Dilbert, a forward for the who debuted in 2018.
