Eric Lynn

Eric Lynn (born 1978/1979) is an American politician. Lynn worked as an aide on Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign, and, in the Obama administration, Lynn worked for the Department of State and the Department of Defense. He was the Democratic nominee for Florida's 13th congressional district.
Early life and career
Lynn was born in 1978 or 1979 in St. Petersburg, Florida. He graduated from St. Petersburg High School, and interned for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).
Obama campaign and administration
Lynn was employed on Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign, serving as an aide on Middle East policy and the liaison with the Jewish community. In April 2009, after Obama became President, Lynn became the Department of State's senior policy advisor and Director of Special Envoy Affairs.
Later in 2009, he joined the Department of Defense, serving as a senior advisor to Secretary Robert Gates and, later, Secretary Leon Panetta. Lynn left the federal government in 2014.
Elections
2016 U.S. House campaign
On April 7, 2015, Lynn announced his candidacy for Florida's 13th congressional district. On May 3, 2016, Lynn withdrew from the Democratic primary to run for the Florida House of Representatives.
2016 Florida House of Representatives campaign
On May 3, 2016, Lynn declared his candidacy for District 68 of the Florida House of Representatives in that year's elections. On August 30, 2016, Lynn lost the Democratic primary to Ben Diamond, who went on to win the general election.
2022 U.S. House campaign
On May 5, 2021, Lynn announced he would again seek the Democratic nomination for Florida's 13th congressional district, after incumbent Charlie Crist stated he would retire to run for governor of Florida in 2022. On May 10, 2021, and June 14, 2021, respectively, Ben Diamond and another state representative, Michele Rayner, joined the primary field; however, Diamond withdrew on May 12, 2022, and Rayner on May 16, 2022, leaving Lynn as the presumptive Democratic nominee. He was officially nominated on August 23.
