Energy Literacy Advocates

Energy Literacy Advocates (ELA) is a public education organization based in Denver/Fort Collins, Colorado-based organization that seeks to improve "energy literacy" in the United States "in order to make informed contributions and decisions to address our country's energy crisis" and to "empower a comprehensive national energy policy that is responsible and sustainable." ELA is a non-partisan, non-profit group that is tax-exempt as an [501(c)(3)] organization.
The precursor organization to Energy Literacy Advocates was formed in 2005 by former business executive Robert Stetson.

The ELA's board of directors consists of
*Robert Stetson, founder/chairman - Founder and former president/CEO of Trustreet Properties, CFO/retail division president of Burger King, CFO/CEO of Pearle Vision financial officer of PepsiCo Food Service International, CFO of Pizza Hut
*Richard Lamm, codirector of the Institute for Public Policy Studies at the University of Denver, three-term governor of Colorado (1975-1987)
*Gary Hart, Democratic U.S. Senator representing Colorado (1975-1987)
*Tim Penny, senior fellow and co-director of the Humphrey Institute Policy Forum, U.S. Representative, Minnesota's 1st congressional district (1982-1994)
*Pam Inmann, executive director of the Western Governors Association

In addition, an advisory board provides guidance and helps assure the accuracy of ELA research reports. Members include:
* David Durenberger, former U.S. Senator from Minnesota
* William Kaufman, former Colorado State Legislator
