Endless Adventures

Description
Endless Adventures is a not-for-profit live action role play game set in a high fantasy game setting. Players dress like the races and roles they choose for themselves. Players will wear make up or masks to make their facial appearance look like a race they choose. Players of Endless Adventures are encouraged to stay in character from the start of an adventures to the very end. Players take on the roles of PCs whom they create and NPCs whom are created by Adventure Lords. Adventures follow a set storyline that can bend and twist throughout the duration of one or many adventures.
The adventures held in Endless Adventures are played in many styles. Some adventures are played like old style LARP games such as Dagorhir and Amtgard called Battle Games. Battle Games are normally a rudimentary form of capture the flag with boffer weapons and a simple storyline goal, such as the fate of a city that will be determined by the winner. Battle games last around 4 hours. Another style of adventure is called a "Tavern/Feast Adventure." Tavern or Feast adventures have multiple flowing story lines and take place in the setting of an old medieval tavern. Drinks and food are served to players using an in game monetary system called "Jackirits" during taverns. Taverns normally last around 6-10 hours. Tournaments are held once or twice per year to test the true ability of players. Rewards for tournaments are items such as Calimacil weapons, real armor or in game items.
Linear style adventures are very special and exclusive to Endless Adventures. The linear adventures will normally star a small number of PCs. The linear adventures are filmed over the course of 4-6 hours and they tell a story about the PCs. The linear adventures are published to DVD for the PCs to have a record of what they did and to have a testament for their character.
Unlike other LARPs Endless Adventures does not use a limb based system of fighting. Every player has a set amount of hit points and armor points. Weapons do certain damage amounts and are shouted on contact. Players do not loose limbs, they loose hit points, and when players run out of hit points they are considered incapacitated or swoon.
Endless Adventures allows for a wide array of boffer weapons to be used. Weapons made with PVC or fiber glass cores and padded with at least 3/4" PVC insulation is allowed. Weapon made with press injected foam and latex are allowed. Weapons made with blue camp foam (AKA closed cell foam) and duck tape are allowed. It is considered by the players that every type of boffer from every type of LARP is allowed in Endless Adventures.
Boffer combat is ruled by "Combat Courtesy" and is a system of combat very different than other LARPs. Combat Courtesy allows for players to consent amongst each other to perform maneuvers not normally allowed in other LARPs such as, stage punching and hip tossing. Combat Courtesy also allows for younger and less skilled fighters to join Endless Adventures without the fear of getting hit too hard.
Armor worn by the players in Endless Adventures is real and normally made from leather and metal. Fake armor made from hard plastic to simulate metal is allowed unlike other LARPs. Numeric values for the type of armor is allotted to players for their armor points. Shields are made from metal or wood and padded on the edge for safty to players and boffer weapons. Shield edge padding is two layers, one is garden hose followed by 3/4" padding at minimum.
The game is based in a world created by The Creators. One continent, "Aiteagen", exists for the players of Kansas City to roam freely around using the in character forums on the website for Endless Adventures. Players also live their character by attending adventures. Future continents are created by The Creators for future players, or by people who want to be an Adventure Lord to control a continent. Continents are representatives of game areas through out the real world. Adventure Lords control the game areas and provide the live setting for players to live their character. Continents are like chapters or kingdoms in other LARPs.
Adventure Lords control the pace of the game in a live setting and enforce the rules of Endless Adventures. Adventure Lords are the game enforcers who spend the majority of adventures setting story lines, controlling NPC's and enforce safty. The rules can be found in the Endless Adventures version 3 rulebook on the Endless Adventures website. The game is free to play.
Players receive character points every adventure they attend. Players use the character points to buy skills and levels for their PCs. Players use the rulebook to choose their skills and levels.
History
The Creators consist of two men, Lee Shaffer and James Travison. James and Lee had played many different LARP games such as Amtgard, Dagorhir, ARO and Elderaenth for years. They had enjoyed these games but the political and social nature caused many groups they would play with to collapse. James enjoyed the aspects of LARPs that encouraged grand battles and full armor. Lee enjoyed the aspects of LARPs that encouraged the use of magic and role play. The two men took all the aspects of the many LARPS they had played and joined them together in stew of ideas. James and Lee also loved Dungeons and Dragons so much they based much of the game from the table top game. Between the two creators they had over 20 years of LARPing experience.
The future of Endless Adventures' costumes and battle rules are heavily influenced by European LARPs that use latex weapons, body paint and realistic armor.
In 2002 James and Lee finalized the first version of the Endless Adventures rulebook after a few months of development. The very first rulebook was 5 pages long and it was accompanied by a smaller side rulebook known as the bungee.
The very first adventure was ran in September of 2002 on a very cold day. Four players showed up and it did not discourage the two creators. Over the course of 4 years players would come and go and help the development of the LARP game.
From 2002 to 2006 the rule book was meshed with the bungee to form a version 2. In 2004 version 3 was launched.
In 2009 the Al Guide was released and The Creators started the process of expanding the game. Travison Shaffer Live Interactive Combat Theater Workshop Limited was established as the official controlling company of Endless Adventures. TSLW is owned by Lee Shaffer and James Travison.
Membership
Membership consists of players recorded in a master book by a continent's Adventure Lord. The game is free to play. A site fee is charged to players whom wish to earn extra Character Points. Anyone is encouraged to play Endless Adventures and there is no discrimination towards anyone from other LARP groups. Endless Adventures boasts itself as a game and not a LARP group or a LARP chapter. Players make their own destiny for their PC by their actions on the In Character forums and by their actions during an adventure. The Adventure Lord is a role, role players can aspire to become, it is set by The Creators to those whom request to control a continent. Those who control continents also pay a monthly royalty fee to Travison Shaffer L.I.C.T. Workshop.
