EmoTrance ET stands for Emotional Transformation and is a psychotherapeutic alternative medicine tool based on the theory that energy needs to flow through the human body and when it gets “stuck” it is felt at that location. In contrast to other similar meridian energy based techniques such as the Emotional Freedom Techniques EFT, Thought Field Therapy TFT and Acupressure, EmoTrance does not use charts of the body and instead works directly with the kinaesthetic feedback from the client.
Background
EmoTrance was co-created by Dr Silvia Hartmann, PhD and Nicola Quinn in 2002. At the time, Hartmann was already known for her books on Emotional Freedom Techniques EFT and also another mental process called Project Sanctuary which is in itself similar to Win Wenger’s Image streaming.
Some of the core principles of EmoTrance were modelled from the American psychotherapist Virginia Satir whose work was also used and developed by Richard Bandler and John Grinder when they developed Neuro Linguistic Programming NLP.
Other principles of EmoTrance were the direct result of Hartmann’s work on animal behaviour in the early nineties.
The technique was first presented at the 2002 Oxford Energy Psychology Conference held at Oxford University, Oxford, United Kingdom.
Principles
In 2008 Hartmann published the 51 principles of EmoTrance under the name “The EmoTrance Primer”. This work has been translated from British English into German, Dutch, Italian and Spanish.
The Sidereus Foundation
An organisation setup by Hartmann & Quinn to be the professional certifying body behind EmoTrance. In 2006, The Sidereus Foundation became a part of The StarFields Network.
