Elyan Fernova

Elyan Fernova was born in Senigallia, Italy in 19, January 1963. He started playing drums at the age of 4.
In 1983-1985 Elyan worked as a session player in Rome and had the opportunity to work with some great musicians such as: Roberto Masala, Max Di Carlo, Marco Rossetti and shortly after joined a band called Traxx, which were produced by the Micioni brothers. Work with the band did not last long when the singer of Traxx (Axx Donnell) decided to form a dance duo name Axx Donnell and Eric Malone. This duo recorded and co-wrote with Masala-Di Carlo two songs called Just for two times and Golden cage.
Marco Grati of the band Via Verdi asked in 1985 if he would join the band and record the song Diamond which sold more than 6 millions singles in three years. Fernova and the band recorded the album Traier at Logic Studios in 1985/86 in Milan. The album produced 4 singles: Diamond, Sometimes, You and me and Trailer.
In 1987 Elyan left the band and moved to England where he played briefly with a band called Drum Theatre. Later this band changed their name to Ictus Kix but they were unsuccessful in sealing a record deal. In London Fernova played with many artists such as: Tony Moore and Spagna.
By the end of 1990 Fernova returned to Italy and worked in the Milan and Bologna session scene. In 1991 he recorded an album for Italian band Gang. He also contributed as a session player for them and recorded the drums for the album Le radici e le ali which received the award as the best rock album in 1991 by the famous Italian rock magazine Mucchio Selvaggio. Elyan toured with the Italian singer Christian, who performed Cara, at a musical contest in San Remo.
In 1994 Fernova joined Italian duo Audio 2, and toured for two years promoting their albums Audio 2 and E=mc2 in concerts and live TV programs. Elyan stopped touring to concentrate on studio work and private drums lessons in Government schools in his country. Between 1996/99 he played with live cover bands and worked with underground/indie project Pelikan Milk in 2001 recording the album Welcome.
In 2002 Australian drum manager Frank Corniola had Elyan participate in the recording of a 10th anniversary DVD 'AUDW 19th Anniversary'. Elyan played alongside Virgil Donati, Dave Weckl and Dom Famularo. The DVD was released in 2002. By this time Elyan was endorsed by Le Soprano Drums and started to do clinics around Italy and Australia. He moved to Melbourne in 2003. Elyan was asked by Australian jazz saxophonist Andy Sugg in 2005 to participate in the making of the CD After Utopia which featured Dave Liebman, Sam Keevers, Kim Keelart and Steve Magnuson in the band. With this band Fernova played around Melbourne and at the Wangaratta jazz festival to promote the CD.
In 2005 Fernova contributed drums for the Australian Idol finalist Laura Gissara’s song Ti Amo, produced by Adrian Hannan and in 2006 Elyan played live with Dan Cassey in the band, Dan Nation. In 2007 Elyan joined Rockstar Experience as a drum coach. Finally in 2008/2009 Elyan can be heard on the Fabbox CD The music from the Fabbox with alongside Massimo Bozzi, Fabrizio Ugolini, Danny Simcic (Real Life, Send Me An Angel) and Joseph Williams (Toto).
