Ellen Burnes (born in 1967) and former Chair of the Boulder County Democratic Party. On April 17, 2019, Burnes announced her candidacy for U.S Senate representing Colorado. If elected, Burnes would become the first woman to represent Colorado in the U.S Senate. Burnes was an Agricultural Business Professor at California State University, Fresno and had a career in the private sector, including being a planner, economist and global office lead for MWH, before becoming a Finance Professor at Colorado State University. and a former member of the Zonta Foothills Club, Burnes lives with two dogs, Franklin and Elliott, and is an advocate for women and the immigrant population.
