Fictional Biography
Ella Payne is the wife of Curtis Payne and mother of Calvin Payne, she is also aunt to her adopted nephew C.J, and his children (although originally Allen Payne's character C.J Payne was depicted as their son, before the creation of Calvin Payne). Although exact details are never revealed within the show Ella Payne and Curtis appear to have been married for quite some time and close in age, which is estimated to be near fifty. It is revealed in one episode that Ella first meets Curtis at a park where he approaches her with a six pack of beer, although neither character makes their first appearance until the episode The Roof Is On Fire. She has apparantly had no other romantic relationships. Payne has no occupation however she does a great deal of chores around the house (including cleaning, cooking, and doing laundry for every character including her son Calvin who doesn't live at the Payne house for the entire first and second seasons), volunteers at a community center, and belongs to an all woman's club called the Soul Sisters, which is a secret to all the males in the house and C.J's wife Janine. Payne shows great enthusiasm for all the previously listed activities. In recent episodes she resides with her husband, nephew, his ex-wfie, and his children in their home in Atlanta, Georgia, where the series is set.
