Elizabeth Halverson is a state district court judge in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Career Halverson holds a Bachelor's Degree in History and Political Science/Public Service from University of California at Davis. She holds a law degree from the University of Southern California and worked as a law clerk in Nevada state court for nine years before she was elected to the bench in the fall of 2006. She handled civil and criminal cases alike. Halverson is running for re-election on August 12, 2008.
Disciplinary Issues On July 25, 2007 Judge Halverson was temporarily suspended with pay by the Nevada Judicial Discipline Commission, because of allegations that she poses a substantial threat of serious harm to the public, and a substantial threat to the administration of justice. Specific accusations include mistreating staff and sleeping during trials. She has consistently denied misconduct allegations. Halverson's hearing before the Nevada Judicial Discipline Commission is set to begin June 9, 2008.
