Elior Group

Elior is a French multinational company specialized in contract catering and services, with operations in six countries spread over three continents; Spain, the US, France, India, Italy and the UK.
History
The Group was founded in 1991 by Robert Zolade and Francis Markus, who together acquired a 35% stake in Générale de restauration, a subsidiary of Accor, a French player specialized in contract catering. The Group developed its activities in the UK, Spain, Italy and France by way of acquisitions and partnerships. In 1998, it adopted the name of Elior and focused on two activities: contract catering, via Avenance, and concession catering, via Eliance.
In 2000, Elior was floated on the Euronext in Paris. Between 2001 and 2006, Elior’s international expansion was notably the result of partnerships forged with Serunion and Areas in Spain, where it became leader in contract catering. Other acquisitions followed in Italy, France and the UK.
In 2006, Robert Zolade and two investor partners acquired 100% of the capital and voting rights of Elior and withdrew the share from the stock market.
The Group pursued its development in Europe and expanded its activities in the United States on the airport and then the motorway markets. With the successive acquisitions of FMC, GHS and Sin & Stes, the Group strengthened its multi-service offering.
In 2011, the Group regrouped its activities under the Elior brand. In 2012, Elior acquired Ansamble and consolidated its positions in Italy.
In 2013, Elior penetrated the US contract catering market via the acquisition of TrustHouse Services, a company in the education and health markets in the US.
Elior returned to the stock market in June 2014 when it was floated on the Euronext Paris and integrated the SBF 120 in March 2015. In July 2015, Elior became the sole shareholder of Areas. The Group also reinforced its contract catering positions in the US with the acquisitions of Starr Catering Group and Abl Management, specialized in contract catering in prisons and universities.
In March 2016, the North American subsidiary took the name of Elior North America and acquired Preferred Meals (a company specialized in contract catering and home-delivery on the education and seniors markets). In July 2016, Elior Group announced the acquisition, via its subsidiary Elior UK, of Waterfall Catering Group, thereby reinforcing its positions on the education, health, social services and corporate markets.

In 2017, Elior Group pursued its expansion in contract catering in the US with the successive acquisitions of CBM Managed Services, Lancer Hospitality, Abigail Kirsch, Corporate Chefs, Design Cuisine and Sidekim.
At its meeting on July 26 2017, the Board of Directors voted to modify the Company's one-tier corporate governance structure and separate the functions of Chairman and CEO. In July 2018, Elior Group acquired Bateman Community Living, a US company specialized in senior nutrition.
