Rabbi Eli J. Mansour is a Sephardic Orthodox rabbi of Syrian Jewish descent. He is an eminent Torah scholar and a renowned and highly sought after speaker. Currently, he leads a congregation of Sephardic Jews of Syrian, Lebanese, Egyptian, and Morrocan backgrounds in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Rabbi Mansour was born in Brooklyn in 1968. He attended area yeshivot, graduating from Magen David Yeshivah's elementary school and Shaare Torah High School. Upon graduation, he studied at the Merkaz HaTorah yeshiva in Israel, and continued his education after his return to the U.S. at various learning institutions, including Ateret Torah in Brooklyn and the Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, NJ. Afterward, he joined the Keter Sion Kollel to learn under the guidance of Rabbi Max Maslaton. He received semicha, his official rabbinical ordination, in 1998.
Rabbi Mansour serves as the religious leader of Congregation Bet Yaakob. The Congregation is housed within Har HaLebanon Synagogue in Brooklyn, but plans are underway to erect a permanent facility several blocks away. Mansour gives daily classes in Mishnah, Halakha, Torah, Nevi'im, and a variety of subjects relevant to the Orthodox Jewish community. He continues to study at the Keter Sion Kollel as well.
Rabbi Mansour co-authored, with Rabbi David Sutton, the Sutton edition of the , a Sephardic Passover Haggadah with commentary which was published by Artscroll last year. He is working on a compendium of practical halachot with 1000 selections from orations that could be found at , one of the four websites he regularly contributes to.
