Eleven 59

Eleven 59 are a rock band that formed in the summer of 1986 on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Singer/songwriter Dave Hart and guitarist Brian Bickel, both transfer students from outside of Tennessee, met in Electronics class and quickly began writing songs together. Both Hart and Bickel attended MTSU and were enrolled in the school's Recording Industry Management (RIM) Program.
As a class project for fellow RIM student and bass player Dave Powers, they got together and recorded one of Hart's original songs entitled "Want To" along with Jeff Laughinghouse on drums. On a whim, the completed recording was submitted at the last minute to the Nashville Entertainment Association (NEA), who were accepting 12 local acts to be featured on a compact disc entitled "What You Haven't Heard-Nashville Rock"and showcase for major record labels as part of their 1987 NEA Extravaganza. A band name was needed, and Eleven 59 seemed to make sense.
Want To was selected to be on the NEA CD, and showcase dates were set in motion, but the band only knew 1 song, and band members were not yet solidified. Soon after David Prince replaced Laughinghouse on drums, and the line up was complete.
Over the next 7 years, Eleven 59 would attract a large following throughout the Southeastern United States, playing the club circuit and being supported by college radio stations such as WRVU (Vanderbilt University) and WUTK (University of Tennessee).
They released a 7 song EP through Carlysle Records in 1988, and the release won "Best Tape Of The Year-1988" in the Metro Nashville Music Awards.
The band disbanded in 1993 after 7 years of frustration, trying to get a recording contract.
On June 28, 2014 the band will release a 12 song album entitled "Always & Again" that includes demo recordings the band made between 1986 and 1991 to submit to record labels. The songs have been re-mastered and will be available on most online music stores.
