Eleanor Delamere Ball Laurens (April 17, 1731 - May 22, 1770) was the daughter of Elias Ball and Mary Delamere. Early life Eleanor was born in Berkeley County, South Carolina, on April 10, 1731, to Elias Ball, a wealthy rice plantation owner, and Mary Delamere. She was their eighth child and the third to make it to adulthood. Marriage and family On June 25, 1750, she married Henry Laurens, with whom she had at least 13 children. Only five survived to adulthood, as the others died in infancy or childhood. Death Laurens died on May 22, 1770, a month after giving birth to her last child. After her death, she left her sons with their father and her daughter, Martha, went to live with her uncle in England. She was buried in Saint Philip's Episcopal Church Cemetery in Charleston. Her headstone was destroyed by British soldiers during the Revolution, so her grave is now unmarked.
