The Église Protestante Reformée du Burundi is a young conservative Reformed denomination in Burundi. It is a mission by the Christian Reformed Church in the Netherlands. The church was founded in 2003 by a small group led by Rev. J. Bararu. The denomination now consists of 14 congregations, 1,200 members, and 7 ministers. In 2008, a request was made to train pastors. Due to the request, in 2010 Dutch theologians travelled to Bujumbura (the largest city and then-capital) to educate pastors, elders and deacons. In 2012, due to a schism Rev. J. Bararu departed and was succeeded by Rev. Nimpagaritse. Later in 2012, a Synod was formed to decide an issue of doctrine, administration, or application. In 2013, the foundation stones of a new church building were laid in Kemange. The denomination is a member of the World Reformed Fellowship. It has a relationship with the Christian Reformed Church in North America.
