Edward Petrossi is an Iranian-American martial artist and store owner. Petrossi was made famous in 2006, when he defended his store against a would-be robber and used his cell phone camera technology to snap a photograph of the robber's license plate, leading to his arrest. The story was covered by a local news station for airing on local television, but because of Petrossi's charisma and the inspiring nature of his actions, the story quickly spread to news stations all over the country and internet, making Petrossi's story a nation-wide phenomenon.
A cult following has since emerged around Petrossi both online and in communities throughout the United States. A number of spin off videos and websites have been created around Petrossi, including a number of YouTube impressions. Petrossi's notoriety continues to grow three years after the story was originally broadcast.
