Edgar Barroso (born in 1977) is a Mexican composer of academic and film music. He is currently a PhD Candidate a Harvard University working with Chaya Czernowin and Hans Tustchku. As part of his graduates studies he is now the Director of the Harvard Group for New Music and a Resident Tutor at Adams House. He holds a Masters in Digital Art by the Pompeu Fabra University and a Bachelors in Music Composition by the University of Guanajuato. He has received several International Composition awards such as the Jurgenson Composition Competition at the Moscow Conservatory (2007), the Harvard International Competitions for Live Electronics, 3rd place at the Ensemblia Composition Competition (2007), Best Audio Award from International (Portugal) among others. His music has been recorded and published by the Inventionen Festival (Germany-2006), the Phonos Foundation (Spain 2007), The Sonoimagenes Festival (Argentina), and the Beta Collide (USA-2010). He has been supported by the Mexican National Fund for Arts and Culture and the Mexican National Council for Science and Technology. As a film composer he has been granted with Best Music Score for the Experimental Film Kapsis (a collaboration with designer Yen Ting-Cho) at the Los Angeles Reel Festival and Los Angeles Movie Awards. In August 2010 he finished the Music for the Feature Film . Barroso is now a Teaching Fellow in Composition at the Harvard University Department of Music and it's doing research in collaboration and cross-discipline projects.
