EBossWatch

eBossWatch is the first ever employer review website which enables people to name and rate their current or former bosses in a non-libelous way using an online evaluation form. The website, which was launched in 2007, serves as a career resource for job seekers to help them evaluate the quality of the managers and the work environment at potential employers to help people avoid toxic bosses and employers with a hostile work environment.
Ratings on eBossWatch
Anyone can go to the eBossWatch.com website and anonymously post a rating of any boss already listed on the site. Users may also create a new listing for any boss who not already listed. The website offers a search feature, which includes searching by the boss' name, company, and location.
eBossWatch is financed through a combination of pay per click sponsored listings (similar to Google Adwords) and advertising sponsorship opportunities.
The eBosswatch Worst Bosses List
On December 2009, eBossWatch made history and published the world's first annual list that names the worst bosses in the US and abroad.
eBossWatch assembled a panel of workplace experts, who selected and ranked the worst bosses of 2009 based on a number of criteria. The 2009 panel consisted of the founder and president of the Workplace Bullying Institute, a professor of management at the Thunderbird School of Global Management, a board member of the Oklahoma Business Ethics Consortium, and a workplace consultant and author.
Criticism
eBossWatch has been criticized in certain circles and questions have been raised about the accuracy of allowing the boss reviewers to remain anonymous. There is no way of knowing that those who rate a boss have actually worked for the person in question, making it possible for bosses to rate themselves and each other and for posters to rate bosses based purely on hearsay for any reason imaginable.
