The Eastside Sun is a monthly newspaper serving Kirkland, Washington, United States. The paper was founded in July 2006 by a group of downtown businesspeople and publisher John Gilday. It started out as a 32-page nightlife- and entertainment-oriented newspaper with a circulation of 10,000 and has grown into a monthly 40-page full-color paper covering government, policing issues, transportation, growth management, arts and entertainment. In 2010, Gilday accused City of Kirkland officials of attempting to intimidate its advertisers. Contents and distribution The Sun is distributed in the Kirkland/Redmond/Bellevue areas, and expanded into the Kent/Renton areas, as well as into the Northlake area comprising Kenmore, Bothell and Woodinville. It is also available on the internet.
