The East County Blackshirts are a semi-pro football team of the North American Football League's Cascade Division, located in Gresham, Oregon. Founded in 2008, the team played its first season's home games at Mount Hood Community College. The Blackshirts finished the 2008 season with an impressive 12-1 record and were the 2008 Cascade Division Champions. In 2009, the Blackshirts home games will be played at Blackshirt Stadium in Gladstone. General Manager for 2009 is Dan Roberts, the Voice of the Blackshirts. Assistant General Manager, Marcy Gardner, will be running day to day operations and marketing for the team. This season Chris Gardner is assuming the Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator duties. Chris is the 'heart' of this team and he brings a new fun and family-based philosophy to the organization. The Blackshirts will be working with several local youth programs to give back to the community. "We love the game of football and want to share this great sport with the youth of Oregon." Special teams will be coached in 2009 by Jimmy Hurley. Coach Hurley is a welcome addition to an outstanding coaching staff. Sean Clark is Offensive Coordinator. The Blackshirts will be led by key returning players: Kyle English - quarterback, Greg Locke - running back, Aaron Gardner - offense line and Antonio Richardson - defensive standout.
