The East Bay Tribune was a daily newspaper to be published in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area. It was proposed by Bay Area News Group-East Bay (BANG-EB), a subsidiary of MediaNews Group. The paper was scheduled to begin publication on November 2, 2011. The plan was cancelled in October 2011. Merging of local newspapers The newspaper was scheduled to replace the following local newspapers on November 2, with its first edition: the Oakland Tribune, Alameda Times-Star, Daily Review, Fremont Argus and West County Times. All these papers were scheduled to publish their last editions on November 1. The East Bay Tribune was to be a localized edition of the San Jose Mercury News.
