Ealing Broadway Platform 9

Ealing Broadway Platform 9 is a distinctive and historic platform at Ealing Broadway Station. In particular, the original wooden Ealing Broadway solid-disc roundel signs are still present. This format dates back before 1919 when the Edward Johnston version was introduced. This platform is the northernmost at the station where it serves the District Line of London Underground.

There is a footbridge which crosses over the two tracks serving platforms 8 and 9, this leads down to platform 9. This footbridge can be accessed from platform 8 (also platform 9 which is adjacent to platform 8), or directly from the Ticket Hall area. When one proceeds through the ticket gates on entry to Ealing Broadway Station, the passage immediately on the left leads to this footbridge.
There is also a walkway which goes behind the buffers of the two tracks serving platforms 8&9, there is a small ramp up to this walkway. It provides step free access between the three District Line platforms and the two Central Line platforms. This ramp also provides full step free access from Ealing Broadway Platform 9 to the (usual) London-bound National Rail platform (4), the single cash machine on the station, departure summary screen, waiting room and toilet (disabled, ladies and gents) facilities.

The platform is used mainly at the start and end of service, on weekdays. The first time-tabled train into Platform 9 on Monday - Fridays (excluding bank holidays), is train 26. This train leaves Ealing Common Depot at 0442, and enters service at Ealing Common westbound platform at 0444. It then forms the first Eastbound District Line service of the day from the station, departing at 0453 to Upminster Station (arriving at 0618).
