e2e Technology was developed in 2006 by Group 3 Technology as a lightweight IP signalling protocol that quickly and reliably opens a direct communication path between two (or more) Users of IP services over the internet, for the purpose of carrying a wide variety of IP content traffic (e.g. Video, voice, messaging, presence, music etc.). Most importantly, this direct communication path can be opened regardless of whether or not, either or both, Users are connected to the internet from behind a Network/Router (or WiFi router). It is currently available in a number of VoIP applications and was initially designed to traverse Network Address Translation (NAT) routers and firewalls the e2e Technology is an alternative to STuN, Proxy Servers and Session Border Controllers. It operates on standard Windows-based Servers and can be installed in a 1u rackmount. It is compatible with any transport protocols including IAX2, SIP and can be used within the IMS layer of the proposed IP Multimedia Subsystem
