It is a highly structured cooperative learning that initiate skill of writing among students which also help students to express their ideas or thoughts. This strategy let the students to perform independently and then bring up their individual study through an in class writing . Thus this strategy promotes critical thinking as they come up with different ideas of their own, and offer them the opportunity of writing to learn. This also helps the students to have immediate feedback about their own intellectual work about a specific concept.
Procedure
Firstly students have to read the material or concept about which they have to write for e.g. a chapter in textbook and then frame an essay question. Students need to be guided to frame questions so that all the matter can be discussed in the class with the help of these questions. They then have to come to the class with their prepared question in one sheet along with the prepared response or modal answer to their question in a second sheet.
The students are then paired who then exchange their prepared questions and then spend some time in writing a spontaneous answer to their partner's question. This can be done either with an open book or closed, which depends upon the complexity of the material.
The students in pair compare the modal answer prepared before class with the spontaneous answer in the class . When all students receive the copies of questions a discussion is conducted by the instructor.
