Dutch Blitz World Championship
|
The Dutch Blitz World Championship is an annual event at Eastern Mennonite University. The event is managed by the university's Campus Activities Council. Though primarily attended by EMU students, the championship has an open registration. Rules All rules will be standard, as explained at the Dutch Blitz website, with the exception of the rules involving Post Piles. Contrary to the official rules, players will not be able to play cards from their Blitz or Wood piles onto their Post piles. For the first round of play, participants will be divided randomly into tables of 3 or 4, so that there will an even number of starting tables. At the end of each round, either the winner of the table, or the top two players, will move on to the next round. This will happen once more, with the goal being a final table of 4 players in the 3rd and final round. The first two rounds will be played to 100 pts., while the final will be played to 150 pts. Any rule disputes or questions will be decided by the Campus Activities Council. Winners 2010 James Hall defeated Daniel Miller, Darrel Miller and Matt Swartzentruber in the final round. Hall, and both Millers, all exceeded 150 on the final round, but Hall's 167 edged Daniel's 165 and Darrel's 155. There were 28 original participants.
