Plot After spending about twenty-six years in exile in France, Kodjo Mediros got back to Togo, a country under France-backed military dictatorship rule. No sooner did Kodjo come back than a series of political unrests compelled the military junta to opt for a democratic rule, with quickly held presidential elections. However, the Togolese Armed Forces torpedoed the elections, with the support of the French government. In the ensued political crisis, Kodjo became Prime minister. France and USA, two rival powers, then embark on a fight to win Kodjo. Trivia *Cosmos Akoete Eglo currently lives in exile, having fled persecution from the Togolese regime. * The manuscript of Du Sang sur Le Miroir was written in early 2000. However, the fictional story strangely coincided with real dramatic events that unfolded in Togo. * The book was dedicated to people who fall victim to brutal military repression in Togo, among others: Sylvanus Olympio (the Togolese first president, assassinated) and Thomas Rupprecht, a German diplomat, murdered in March 1996.
