Dr. Ikram Abidi

Ikram Abidi is a novelist, health feature writer & medical researcher of Pakistan currently based in Canada. He is particularly famous for introducing a unique literary genre of "Islamic romance" with special emphases on marriage, eastern social values and various family related issues through his scholarly works.
Life
Syed Ikram Hussain Abidi was born on August 16, 1976 in Karachi. He passed his intermediate in Science from one of the leading institutions of Pakistan, D. J. Science College, and received his MBBS in the year 2000 from Dow Medical College, a renowned medical institution of Pakistan. He has also received diploma in Business Administration from Hamdard University and completed a certificate course in Hospital Administration from University of Karachi. In 2009, he relocated to Canada where he continues to work as a health feature writer, researcher & novelist. He is particularly interested in writing Urdu & English literature in the context of Islam, social & cultural values of the east, specifically the Indo-Pak subcontinent. His novel Hijaab Waali... the veiled girl gained immense popularity because of its unique subject reflecting the philosophy of Hijab and family values of the eastern society. The novel has been translated in three different languages (Urdu, English & Indonesian) and, to date, remains probably the first ever and the only "Pakistani" novel that has been translated & published in Indonesia with the name .
He is currently the webmaster and editor of an online Islamic magazine, "Mubahela" . As a medical word-smith, his specific fields of expertise include weight loss, fitness, nutrition, herbal supplements and a variety of other health related subjects.
