Douglas N. Graham is an American raw veganism activist and author. He promotes the 80/10/10 low fat raw vegan diet, and says his work is based in "Natural Hygiene". He believes that degenerative disease is most effectively prevented and reversed by removing the cause rather than treating symptoms. His work is controversial in many ways. . Even within the raw food community his premise is unusual. He does not promote the sale of so called "superfoods" and he does not sell such things. . Graham recommends healthy lifestyle choices, including regular exercise and a diet of raw, whole, organic, low-fat plant foods, especially fruit and greens, and which excludes all animal foods and vegetable oils. A lifetime athlete, Graham has followed a raw vegan diet since 1978. Some athletes find their performance improves immensely by following the low fat raw vegan lifestyle promoted by Graham. . Dr. Graham follows the work of Herbert M. Shelton the renowned champion of Natural hygiene. These health beliefs have been advocated by others such as Arnold Ehret. Work Graham is a graduate of Montclair State University and Life Chiropractic College, though he no longer practices chiropracty. He coaches individuals and groups in the low fat raw food diet. Graham holds health and fasting retreats in Costa Rica each winter, along with Health & Fitness Week sports camps which he runs in locations around the world.
