Dong yun yoon

Dong Yun Yoon is a naturalized American citizen who immigrated from Korea, who became a public figure after tragically losing his wife, both his daughters (aged 15 months and 2 months), and mother-in-law after an F-18 aircraft crashed into his house on Tuesday 9 Decmber 2008. Mr. Yoon, 37 years old at the time of the accident, was at work when it occurred. Sadly, he and his family had just moved into the San Diego house only a month earlier. Mr. Yoon became perhaps even better known for his remarkable faith, courage, and understanding as demonstrated by his public comments, as he did not pass blame to the pilot of the aircraft, who he described as "one of the treasures for our country." The pilot had ejected and survived. Mr. Yoon stated, "I don't blame him. I don't have any hard feelings. Please pray for him not to suffer from this accident. I know he did everything he could." Speaking of his wife, Yoon stated, "It was God’s blessing that I met her about four years ago. She was a lovely wife and mother...she loves me and babies. I just miss her so much...I know there are many people who have experienced more terrible things...but please, tell me how to do it. I don't know what to do."Y&irefmpstoryemail>

Yoon's wife was named Young Mi Yoon, who was 36; his 2-month-old daughter was named Rachel, and his 15-month old was named Grace. His mother-in-law, Suk Im Kim, aged 60, had recently arrived from South Korea to help care for 2-month old Rachel.

The heartbreak is also reflected in a neighbor's comments, Michael Rose, who said he often spoke with the family and had seen the father kiss his wife and baby goodbye in the driveway just hours before the crash. "I thought, what a beautiful sight. And then later in the day, they were gone," Rose said.

Some have questioned why the American public has not really identified with Dong Yun Yoon, with some suggesting it may be racial, while others state it is as simple as having such a difficult name to pronounce and remember for the average American. Still others feel the media coverage has been as expected. Regardless, it appears that there has been no debate that few human beings have the capacity to be as forgiving and courageous as Dong Yun Yoon.
